LeGrow’s Travel wins Platinum award
as one of Canada’s Best Employers for 2019

HALIFAX, NS – LeGrow’s Travel has been named one the Top 25 Best Employers in Canada for 2019 by Aon Canada in its annual study. The country’s premier benchmark for excellent workplaces, The Best Employers in Canada publicly recognizes organizations that have created great work environments.

“Our travel counsellors are a mong the best and most knowledgeable in the business, says Chairman and CEO Rob Dexter. “They are our strength. To know they are among the most highly engaged workforces in the country is particularly rewarding.”

LeGrow’s Travel is a division of Maritime Travel, the only Atlantic-Canada-based company to win the Platinum award. The primary requirement for being recognized as a Best Employer is creating and sustaining highly engaged employees – something which is measured by asking employees at participating organizations directly through a survey. According to Aon’s definition, employees are engaged when they “say, stay and strive.”

The results are based on the opinions of more than 200,000 employees across approximately 240 different Canadian Organizations from every sector. Organizations that scored in the top 25% of these, and have more than 400 permanent Canadian employees, achieved the Platinum Level.

Some of the benchmarks include employee’s perceptions of senior leadership, people-manager effectiveness, enabling employee productivity, and valuing and appreciating employees. The Best Employers study is now entering its 20th year.

Maritime Travel has been in business since 1949 and is one of Canada’s largest independent travel agency chains, with 117 locations coast to coast, including 15 locations in Newfoundland and Labrador. Maritime Travel is also a Platinum member of Canada’s Best Managed Companies.

From Neil Crawford
Partner and Leader of Aon Hewitt’s

"Maritime Travel scored among the top of the Best Employers for providing tools, technology and the information for employees to be highly productive in performing their day-to-day work, and ensuring that business practices and work processes enable (rather than act as barriers to) productivity.

Six years after the global recession, many businesses continue to be risk- and spending-averse. More is expected from the average employee every day. The slow uptick in business spending on productivity-enhancing tools and processes may be feeding the perception that companies could be doing more to help employees get their work done efficiently. This is an area where Maritime Travel is leading the pack."
