Maritime Travel wins award as one of Canada’s Best Employers for 2020

HALIFAX, NS – Maritime Travel has been named one of the Top 20 Best Employers in Canada for 2020 by Kincentric in its annual study. The country’s premier benchmark for excellent workplaces, The Best Employers in Canada program publicly recognizes organizations that have created great work environments. It’s the 11th consecutive award for Maritime Travel.

“Our travel counsellors are among the best and most knowledgeable in the business, says Chairman and CEO Rob Dexter. “They are our strength. To know they are among the most highly engaged workforces in the country is particularly rewarding.”

The Kincentric Best Employers program recognizes leading employers worldwide, using the most objective measure possible – employee opinion. This is done by asking employees at participating organizations directly through a survey. The survey differentiates on people factors which are the key to accelerating success: High employee engagement, organizational agility, engaging leadership and a focus on talent. According to Kincentric, “being certified as a Kincentric Best Employer means getting recognized for being extraordinary.”

The results are based on the opinions of more than 200,000 employees across approximately 240 different Canadian Organizations from every sector.

Some of the benchmarks include employee’s perceptions of senior leadership, people-manager effectiveness, enabling employee productivity, and valuing and appreciating employees.

“This year’s award is especially meaningful as we emerge from the Covid-19 pandemic, which saw a virtual shutdown of the worldwide travel industry for two years. Our knowledgeable, caring staff on the front lines, together with state-of-the-art technology and operations, have been instrumental,” said Gary Gaudry, President of Maritime Travel.

A Platinum Club winner must maintain Best Managed status for a minimum of six consecutive years. Maritime Travel has been recognized as one of Canada’s Best Managed Platinum Club for 17 consecutive years. Prior to that, it had been named one of Canada’s Best Managed companies since 1998.
