The history in this part of the world is a never-ending learning experience! Amazing food to sample along the way, and sightseeing that does not disappoint!

History and life are abound in the capital of Cairo! The sites are filled with amazing views and legends, incredible to experience in person!Luxor is a quiet city on the Nile, with more history to explore along every street, every corner!

Amazing trip to Rome, the city known as the Eternal City! It did not disappoint. A very walkable city, with history at every turn (and pizza and gelato too!)Northern Spain - such history and amazing sites to see, any time of year!

Nov2019 - enjoyed a wonderful 10-days touring through Croatia with INSIGHT VACATIONS (a definite 5* touring company).The sites we saw were quite incredible with amazing history and culture and architecture.  I will write up more about this wonderful destination. The people and the food and the prices are amazing and well worth it to give this destination a try !

Traveled with INTREPID for 2-wks to Peru.  Toured around LIMA, and then flew in to Puerto Maldonado for a 2-night stay along the Amazon, in the jungle, and we were able to relax, as no internet service (however, chicken spiders abound, so we didn't fully relax !!). On to Cuzco, then traveled via the Sacred Valley to Ollantaytambo, and on to Machu Piccu Puebla.  Did the one-way climb up to the amazing sites of Machu Piccu.  2nd day, we ventured on to the SunGate, with breaktaking views all around! Off again on a 10.5 hour rail journey from Cuzco to Puno and Lake Titicaca, where we enjoyed a home-stay, helping to herd sheep and prep the day's meals. Toured the UROS islands community, as well as the island of Taquile. Such a country with a diverse history and culture, we barely scratched the surface, but we certainly learned a lot, and enjoyed all of it !

Wonderful to be able to see both the main land and the interesting towns, as well as visiting the Azores for a few days.  So incredible and highly recommended !

Spent an amazing week @ Havana.  The people and the sights and the history and the food are absolutely outstanding !!  We visited so many fantastic restaurants, and met so many wonderful Cubans, willing to listen to us practice Spanish while they practiced their English.  It's such an amazing historical and cultural city to spend time in.  The weather was an incredible 30c and sunny every day, over New Year's 2018 -> 2019. We didn't even go to the beach, as the city has so much to offer !  As much as people don't think the food is good, we found the restaurant meals were absolutely wonderful could not have had better food! 

Southeast Asia is so culturally interesting and wonderful to experience.  The very welcoming people we met along the way made our journey exceptional ! Siem Reap in Cambodia is such an historical and important part of the country to visit.

An amazing country with diverse landscapes from the cities to the coast to the Atlas Mountains (great hiking through the Berber villages meeting locals !)

Fantastic area of the continent to explore, meet the locals, see the wildlife, and most especially safari and see (up close) the BIG 5 ! Aug/Sep 2015 Amazing drives along the great countrysides of both Kenya and Tanzania ! Meeting the local people in the villages along the way, such an opportunity to learn ~~

With voluntourism on the rise, any worthwhile project you can do, while traveling, is a great way to travel.  Especially if one includes being visited on-site by Jimmy & Rosalyn Carter, who are just as eager to pick up the closest hammer and continue building.
