Our flights were into and out of San Jose.  Our first  night  was spent at the Crown Plaza San Jose Corobica  just 15 minutes from the airport and 5 minutes to downtown San Jose.  We stayed at various hotels/Lodges/Resorts on our 7 day tour. 

Some things we did or seen were the Doka Coffee Plantation, La Paz Waterfalls gardens and Peace Lodge, Arenal Volcano,  zip lining over the rainforest with Sky Adventures Park , and  Hot Springs at the Tabacon Grand Thermal Resort.  Next it was onto Monteverdi Cloud forest where we walked  eight suspension bridges and hiked through the Cloud forest.

We visited Costa Rica's  premier snorkeling and scuba diving region where we has lunch at the Tamarindo Diria Beach Resort which is located  on the beach of a surfing town.

After two nights at the Occidental Grande Papagayo  Resort we headed back to San Jose travelling south on the Pan American Highway ( longest highway in the world ) , our next  stop was the Tarcoles River & Mangrove Tour to see  beautiful birds as well as  American Crocodiles. 

Our  last night  was spent at the Wyndham San Jose Herradura Hotel and Convention Center  located 5km from the airport and 15 minutes to downtown San Jose . Due to the eruption of the  Turrialba Volcano spewing ash ,  our stay was extended for another night!!  So it was back to the  Crown Plaza San Jose Corobica .

Before leaving Costa Rica we did have time for some retail therapy.  There is a shopping Mall located about 5-10 minutes from the airport.  

Costa Rica is so much more than an all inclusive destination, if your looking for  adventure - Then Costa Rica is for you.!!

This was a trip of a lifetime. I would highly recommend it to travellers of all ages. The tour company was fantastic. They are a family owned business that have been in operation for over 30 years , the attention to detail is their specialty.

We were there for 10 days beginning with 2 nights in Nairobi. During our full day in the city we took in the  Daphne Sheldrick Animal Orphanage and in the afternoon, the Giraffe Center. From there we headed to Amboseli  National Park where we stayed at Amboseli Serena Lodge. With views of Mount Kilimanjaro as the backdrop, the game drives here were just beautiful!! After 2 nights, we headed to Mount Kenya where we stayed at Serena Mountain Lodge for 1 night. The only tree hotel ever to be built on the slopes of Kenya's legendary Mount Kenya, Mountain Lodge offers a matchless game viewing opportunity.  From here  we drove to Samburu Game Reserve and stayed at Samburu Intrepids Luxury Tented Camps for 2 nights. The game drives here, again, were  interesting.

The next stop was Sweetwaters Game Sanctuary for 1 night in another luxury tent.  The next day we took a domestic flight to Masai Mara Game Reserve and stayed for 2 nights at Mara Serena Lodge. Another unique experience. The Masai Mara National Reserve is probably the most famous and most visited Reserve in Kenya. It offers breathtaking views , an extraordinary density of animals including "the Big Five" (lions, leopard, elephant, buffalo, rhinoceros) and may varieties of plains game.

We headed back to Nairobi and enjoyed a Farewell lunch at the famous Carnivore Restaurant. This has to be my most "awesome"  trip to date. The people were so friendly. The food was great and for those that enjoy a beverage  " Tusker" beer will quench your thirst after a long day .

I spent 3 weeks travelling around Ireland in July 2011. Making my way from Dublin by bus to Athlone, by train to West Port, back to County Roscommom by train, then by car to Newport , Mulranny , Cong, Connemara , Sligo , French Park, Ballaghaderren, County Clare, plus taking a bike tour in Athlone, finally making my way to Dublin before heading home. Westport in County Mayo has to be the pretties town there is to see. The city center is adorned with little shops and pubs. If you do get a chance to visit make sure to stop by "Matt Molly's Pub " for some "CRAIC" (Irish fun) and traditional music, you don't have to be a singer to join in. If you can play an instrument that's even better.!! Cong also in the west of Ireland is another great place to visit. If you have seen the movie " Quiet Man" staring John Wayne then you have seen Cong. Take a step back in time , enjoy the day exploring this quaint village. Anyone who has seen the movie will recognize the cottage as soon as you turn the corner. A visit to the Musuem is a must. Sligo is known as Yeats County , home to the famous poet William Butler Yates . Visit Drumcliff Church just north of Sligo town , it's there that you can visit the grave of Yates and see the beautiful Ben Bullben Mountains. Connemara in County Galway is a magical place with it's hills, valleys and beautiful coastline. The "Gaeltacht" regions where Irish is the first language of the locals who love to sing and tell stories of days gone by. They will have you on the edge of your seat with ghost stories that have been past down from generation to generation. Adare in County Limerck with it's thatched cottages is another one of the pretties villages in Ireland. This is the place to pick up all your wollen gifts for your family and friends. Some of the best shawls can be puchased in Adare. After shopping you can spend some time visting the monasteries and ruins or pop into the local pub for a Guinness and have a chat with the locals. The Cliffs of Moher in County Clare are a must see. One of the natural wonders of the world. The cliffs are 214m at there highest point and span 8km along the Atlantic Ocean. You can see the Aran Islands , Galway Bay and The Pins Mountain range from the headlands at O'Briens Tower. ( Plus if you squint real hard you will see the coast of Newfoundland in the distance).!! Dublin is a great place to spend the last few days of your vacation. You can visit St Stephen's park, St Patrick's Cathedral , Trintiy College to see the Book of Kells , Guinness factory to sample a Guinness, Kilmainham Gaol take a guided tour of this 1796 jail, or Dublin Castle. Shop along Grafton and O'Connell Street , stop at Temple Bar District  for a refreshing drink. Walking tours are the best way to see most if not all things Irish. Visit "Molly Malone" as she wheels her wheel barrow through the streets broad and narrrow. If night life is what your looking for then Dublin is the place ,  enjoy dinner at one of the many fine dining restaurants that Dublin has to offer or slip into a Pub to enjoy the nightly "Sessions" with local artists. They have a saying in Ireland " Strangers are friends we haven't met yet." By the time you leave this Magical Island you will have forged many a friendship.
