An Interview With Catherine Kellough
How many years have you been selling travel?
Nineteen well travelled years!
What are your hobbies?
Not sure if this is really a hobby or just a lifestyle but my favorite thing is spending time with my little girl, Jazz. She is a 9 year old lab/am staff mix. We both enjoy going for walks, car drives with an occasionally trip through the Starbucks drive thru and playing in the water (I am the kong-on-the-rope thrower and she is the retriever). If we are inside, then she loves to nap on her bed beside me while I play scrabble on facebook.
After Jazz my next favorite thing is traveling. Every trip is an educational experience.
What type of resort activities do you favor? ie water sports, lounging by the pool, etc?
I love a little bit of everything. If picking a resort for myself I want a large pool with floaties, piano bar, choice of a la carte restaurants, good wine and nice beach.
But given the choice, I would rather cruise or explore a foreign destination then take a beach holiday.
What are your favorite destinations?
People will ask, "What is your favorite spot" and to be honest I do not have one. To me it is all about the "magic moments/experiences". For me these moments include:
China - Climbing the Great Wall and visiting the Terra Cotta Warriors
South Africa - the safari .. seeing a leopard walk past our vehicle, seeing an elephant 2 stones through from our cabin's deck, and seeing lions - up close and personal
Russia - standing in Red Square
Fiji - my first helicopter ride, amazing snorkling
Scandinavian countries - breath taking scenery and 24 hour day light
Sydney, AUS - climbing the Tower Bridge
Poland - 5 hour border crossing
Walking the quaint streets of Mykonos, Greece or Kyoto, Japan
And some of the simplest things that have brought a smile to my face - attending the horse show at the Royal Winter Fair and the Santa. Claus Parade in Toronto.
What languages do you speak?
English. But I can say cheers and thank you in a few different languages.
