FRIDAY, MAY 8: Overnight flight to Berlin.

SATURDAY, MAY 9: Morning arrivals in Berlin. After clearing customs and picking up your bags, you will be greeted by Caroline and will pick up our private transfer to our hotel. After check-in, there will be time to freshen up and rest. Lunch is at your leisure. This afternoon, we will meet in the hotel lobby before joining our relaxing Architecture and History Boat Tour. There is no better way to get a first impression of this intriguing city than from the river Spree. We float freely from East to West Berlin – a pleasure that was unthinkable before the fall of the Berlin wall in 1989. A local architect will point out the highlights and hidden treasures along the way. Later this afternoon, there will be time to rest up at our hotel. This evening, we will have a short, private visit to the extraordinary collection of Thomas Olbricht and his Wunderkammer. We will enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail in the bar of the adjacent ME Collectors Room surrounded by extraordinary art works, located just a 10-minute walk from the hotel. Afterwards, you can get to know your travel companions at our Welcome Dinner. D

SUNDAY, MAY 10: Breakfast at your leisure in the hotel. Jewish history in Berlin can be traced back to the 13th Century. This morning, an incredibly knowledgeable history scholar and artist leads us on a tour of the Jewish quarter, where his often personal stories make the back streets come alive. Included is the emotional Holocaust Monument. This leisurely walking tour includes frequent stops with seating. Afterward, we have a 10-minute drive to the Jewish Museum. The director of the highly influential contemporary König Gallery takes us on a private tour of their current exhibition and the stunning sculpture garden. But first we enjoy a private lunch in the adjacent gallery cafe. This afternoon, an amazing Berlin artist welcomes us in his studio and talks about life in the formerly no-go-but-now-hip Kreuzberg area of Berlin. The balance of the evening and dinner is on your own. B L

MONDAY, MAY 11: Breakfast is at our hotel. This morning we head to the Sammlung Boros for a private tour of the mind-boggling contemporary collection of Germany’s most important collectors – Karin and Christian Boros – housed in a Second World War bunker. We then visit some historical spots, such as the famous border crossing between East and West: Checkpoint Charlie, and the remnants of the Berlin wall. Lunch is on your own, or you can join Caroline. This afternoon, historical and modern Berlin come together in the parliament building – The Reichstag. From there we will enjoy a stunning view over the entire city. The balance of the afternoon is at leisure. Caroline can point out the best shopping areas. Those with a zest for contemporary art can join Caroline on the ‘straßenbahn’ to the Hamburger Bahnhof, a superb contemporary museum. Dinner is on your own. B

TUESDAY, MAY 12: Following breakfast at our hotel, we head out to Berlin’s famous Museum Island. Take in the serene and world-famous bust of Nefertiti in the Neues Museum, and the breathtaking classical antiquities in the Altes Museum and/or view the remnants of ancient buildings in the Pergamon Museum. Join a tour of the highlights or roam around on your own. We will enjoy lunch together among the museums. After lunch, we will drive to the Museum Berggruen and then have a look at the gardens of Charlottenburg Palace. Dinner is on your own. B L

After breakfast at our hotel, we will check out and bid farewell to beautiful Berlin, as we make our way to Dresden – a 2 1/2-hour drive south. On our way we will stop at the must-see UNESCO World Heritage Site Schloss Sanssouci in Potsdam. We will enjoy a private tour of the gardens and the beautiful Rococo palace. Before we arrive in Dresden we’ll make a lunch stop in Meissen, the famous porcelain capital of the Western world. After lunch we will get a behind-the-scenes peek of the most important porcelain factory. We will then arrive in Dresden and check in to our centrally located hotel. There will be time to freshen up before we join a local historian on a walking tour that reveals the highlights and hidden treasures of this unique city. We walk through time and take in the stunning views from Bruhl’s Terrace, the so-called Balcony of Europe. 1 hour leisurely walk. We will end the day with cocktails at one of Dresden’s great contemporary galleries where we will meet the director and local artists. This evening, we enjoy dinner in one of Dresden’s authentic ‘Saxony’ restaurants. B L D

THURSDAY, MAY 14: Breakfast at leisure. The Zwinger Palace awaits, including the famous painting, the Sistine Madonna by Rafael, not to mention masterpieces by Van Eyck, Rubens, Holbein, and Rembrandt. Lunch is on your own, or you can join Caroline. This afternoon we will visit the Green Vault – one of Europe’s most guarded chambers – filled with gold, diamonds, rock crystal and other treasures of August the Strong. A feast for the eyes. The rest of the afternoon and evening is on your own. You may wish to take in an opera at the Semperoper Opera House, an optional activity. B

FRIDAY, MAY 15: After breakfast, we bid adieu to beautiful Dresden, making our way through the stunning Bohemian landscape on our 2-hour drive to Prague. After check-in at our Art Nouveau hotel, there will be time to relax before we dive into the Prague art world with some fantastic public art, including the sculpture of local son Kafka. We will also experience some historical sites. Prague’s famous puppet theatres inspired a successful contemporary artist to create his own version. He welcomes us in his creative sanctuary for a unique experience. Later, we’ll sample one (or more) famous Prague pilsners at an authentic beer house. The balance of the evening and dinner is on your own. B

SATURDAY, MAY 16: Enjoy breakfast at our hotel before taking in some Prague highlights and a surprise. First, we’ll visit the largest ancient castle in the world – Prague Castle. Join the tour or roam around on your own. While there, we’re in for a real treat: A Classical-music concert in the wonderful Lobkowcz Palace. Later, we cross the 700-year-old Charles Bridge. Lunch and the afternoon are at leisure for shopping or exploring. This evening we’ll learn about life as a Prague artist when we visit a successful, local artist in his studio for a cocktail. Our Farewell Dinner will be an authentic Czech feast in an historic setting. We will raise our glasses to great friends and fabulous art. B D

SUNDAY, MAY 17: This morning, breakfast is at your leisure prior to check-out. Caroline will accompany you to the Prague airport for your trip back home. B
