Ramada Wujiaochang Shanghai is where history meets the future with the former French concession and traditional Chinese buildings standing beside gleaming modern skyscrapers and neon lights. From the attractive Bund to the Oriental Pearl Tower, Shanghai has plenty to keep your eyes occupied while the busy streets provide culinary delights and shopping opportunities to tempt the rest of your senses. A city with a turbulent history and a promising future, Shanghai is the best of old and new with grand colonial architecture engulfed by gleaming skyscrapers. We did guided tours taking in sites including the lofty Plaza Tower, tranquil Yu Garden, the Old City and the bustling Bund and took a cruise on Huangpu River during sunset. Today we took a bus ride to ancient Suzhou. A sort of oriental Venice, ancient Suzhou is interwoven by a series of canals and pretty waterways which feed a series of classical gardens, laid out here since the Song dynasty, a thousand years ago. They are justly famous across China. Suzhou sits very close to the Grand Canal. We enjoyed a cruise on the Grand Canal, tour the UNESCO listed Lingering Garden, wander along the ancient street. Today’s final visit was a silk workshop before returning to Shanghai for our overnight train to Xi’an.

Wannian Hotel Today we visited the famous Terracotta Warrior archaeological site. Emperor Qin’s 2,200-year-old terracotta army of life-sized warriors and horses were designed to offer protection to the emperor in the afterlife. The 7,000 clay warriors stand in military formation in excavated pits under the cover of a modern protective hanger and no two faces are alike.  We visit the clay workshop, specializing in making replica figurines of the Terracotta Warriors. In the evening we went to the Tang Dynasty Bolt-on with dinner and performance Today we tour the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and take a casual bicycle ride on top of the 9 mile Xi’an City Wall,  perimeter peeking down upon the lively city beneath us. We also enjoy some free time at the Muslim Quarter before boarding late afternoon high speed train to Luoyang.

Peony Plaza First thing today we drove to the Shaolin Kung Fu Temple set on the foothills of the Songshan Mountain. Here generation after generation of Shaolin monks have devoted themselves to practising Chan Buddhism and a martial art widely recognised as the origins of kung fu. Over the years hundreds, if not thousands, of people have flocked to this very site to learn this ancient discipline. We had a great opportunity to watch a performance of kung fu during our visit. Today we explored the UNESCO-listed 6th Century Longman Caves etched into the cliffs of the Yi River. The 1300 caves (grottoes) are adorned with 100,000 statues and images of Buddha carved during the Northern Wei Dynasty. This afternoon we board the high-speed train to Beijing.

Holiday Inn Express Beijing Minzuyuan   we explore the heart of Beijing, China's pulsating capital, including the vast Tiananmen Square where Chairman Mao’s tomb lies and various monuments to the people are located. Dominating the city center is the Forbidden City, a center of power for five centuries and seat of the emperors. Entering through the Gate of Heavenly Peace (replete with Chairman Mao’s portrait), we enjoy a guided tour of this old city within a city. We had a rickshaw ride through the Hutongs of Beijing, weaving through old back lanes, traditional courtyards and compact houses, gaining a fascinating snapshot of the city’s traditional way of life. We had a fabulous lunch at a local home as well.  In the evening we enjoyed an eye boggling Chinese acrobatic performance. Swinging ropes, juggling hoops, spinning plates and human pyramids to name a few followed by a Peking Duck at a city restaurant.

Changjuyuan Hotel -  After a free morning to further explore the city, we drive beyond Beijing to Badaling, to walk a section of the famous Great Wall. Built in the Ming Dynasty, a 6m wide pathway makes a formidable defense, following the highest contours of a steep range of hills. This evening we spend the night at our quaint hotel which offers views of the Great Wall near Juyongguan Pass. The next morning we head to the Great Wall at Juyongguan Pass for when it opens to beat the crowds. We have time to enjoy and explore the wall before visiting a Jade Carving Centre to learn about this ornamental rock and its importance in Chinese culture. After lunch we head back to Beijing where free time is offered in the Pearl Market. For Dinner we enjoyed a Hot Pot Dinner.

I just returned from Beaches Negril in Jamaica. It was a fantastic resort for families. Our son enjoyed everything about the resort, from the waterslides to the beach to the Xbox lounge to the Scratch DJ academy  to the Sesame Street characters and their evening shows. The unlimited ice-cream and Café de Paris was a big hit as well. The people are so friendly to the kids, they really make them feel comfortable during their stay. The food and drink was also a big hit! We did the family catamaran, it too was amazing! We will surely be returning to the Beaches resorts!

I stayed here with my family  May 31 for 7 nights. The resort has something for everyone - from snorkeling off the beach to swimming with dolphins right on the resort. The local markets, Disco and  the 24 hour snack bars. The kids water park on the Coba side to all the local animals wandering around the resort. I would highly recommend this resort with confidence.

I traveled with AmaWaterways in Dec 2014 for the "Christmas on the Rhine" river cruise. This trip was amazing. We started in Amasterdam and made our way down the Rhine river through Germany, France  and ending in Basel, Switzerland.   We then took the train to Zurich where we spent the night. stayed at Holiday Inn Select

Stayed at the beautiful "Iberostar Varadero" in Cuba for a week with my family. Everything was great, the kids area was really nice, the entertainment was the best I've ever seen and the rooms, grounds, staff and beach were aewsome! We saw some really nice shells on the beach and beautiful sunsets. We did the day tour to Havana and took the double decker bus to the town of Varadero. We all had so much fun!

MSC Mediterranean Cruise - on the MSC Divina - Italian Cruise line. Pre and post hotel in Venice, Italy at the Delfino Hotel. Cruise ports were Bari, Italy, Izmir and Istanbul, Turkey and Dubrovnik Croatia, did not make it to Katakolon, Greece due to wind. We did a tour of the ancient and once vibrant city of Ephesus, which had a population of more than 250,000 in its heyday, is now a gargantuan archaeological site that is situated an approx. 1-hour drive inland from Izmir. Ephesus was originally founded by the Ionians c. 1,000 B.C. and even then boasted features that modern society still appreciates to this day, for instance a huge theatre with absolutely perfect acoustics and a capacity to seat 25,000 people. Your guided tour around the complex will take you past the ancient baths, Hadrian’s Temple, the Library of Celsus, which was built by Tiberius Julius Aquila to commemorate his father, and the marble street where many of the shops were situated. The site provides a fascinating insight into a highly developed and sophisticated ancient civilisation. The historical old city of Istanbul, called Sultanahmet, holds some of the highest concentration of historical, cultural and architectural icons of any neighborhood in Europe. Most of today we spent walking through this stunningly beautiful neighborhood of Istanbul, visiting the Topkapi Palace, Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and the Hippodrome. We had Lunch at a traditional Turkish restaurant. Dubrovnik, the “Pearl of the Adriatic” and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We visit the famous city walls, a series of towers, bastions and fortifications surrounding the entire historical centre and port. Built in the 12th century to defend the city against invaders and then modified in the 13th and 14th centuries, Dubrovnik’s 1,940m of walls are considered some of the most beautiful and best preserved in Europe. In Venice we ate local pizza's, walked along the canalsto  the Rialto Bridge and St Mark's Square. We took the water taxi to Murano to see how they make exquisite glasswork and actually watched the locals make a glass vase. After a 2 hour walking tour we took a gondola tour of the Venice canals where we seen some incredible city sights. After our tour we did some great shopping in  St Marks Sqaure area and we ended the night sitting in the Square listening to the orchestras and eating the best Geliato of the whole trip!!
